“A unique solution to minimise waste”

The demand for eco-friendly products is more pressing than ever. We are two friends with a shared vision to make a big difference. We care about the environment and at the same time love to drink coffee. But how can we have a takeaway coffee without feeling guilty?

Our dream is that all takeaway cups are waste free. So we can all have a coffee experience that’s full of goodness – good for the planet and good for you! A guilt-free morning coffee, a yummy afternoon coffee break – and no harm to our planet.

With this dream in mind, we have developed the Good-Edi edible cup.

But what is the problem with the existing disposable cups?

It is estimated that 1 billion takeaway coffees are consumed each year in Australia. That’s ~ 2.7 million takeaway cups thrown out every day! About 90 per cent of all disposable cups end up in landfill, equating to around 60,000 kilograms of plastic waste per year.

And what about the cups that claim to be eco-friendly or compostable? The capacity to recycle or compost these cups is very limited due to a lack of equipped recycling facilities and access to commercial composting. This means majority of these cups also end up in landfill.
